Do we have any dancers in the room?
Dancing has been one of the more widely utilized tools in films ever since the very beginning. Dances are essentially expressions, and thus, they make great storytelling tools for directors to incorporate when they want to visualize things in a more active, non-verbal way. And they’re also so fun to watch. Whether it’s a ballroom full of synchronized dancers or a solo dancer dancing on their own—the music, the genre, the costumes…all these elements help add details to the story that the movie is trying to convey.
Maimovie ranked the movies with “great dance choreography” out of all the “dance” movies. In other words, the best of the best… if you’re looking for a genuinely good dance movie to watch. From the ballet movie that explores the dark psychology of slowly going mad to Steven Spielberg’s latest remake of a classic, we have a whole variety.
The following list was based on Maimovie on April 11, 2022, under the “dance” and “great dance choreography” Keytalks. Check out the Maimovie app or website to discover more movies and shows.
