When it comes to narratives, there’s nothing as intriguing as revenge stories. A wronged protagonist sets off on a journey seeking for justice—these kinds of stories just must be humanity’s weak spot. The more tragic, the more drawn we are to the story, and the more satisfying it is when justice is, at last, served.
Forgiveness is often viewed as the ideal behavior, but we can all admit that it isn’t the easiest nor is it the most pleasing. Because people are inherently selfish, people hurt others. But even when others hurt us, the wrongdoers often go unpunished and not all of us can risk everything to devote ourselves to the sole purpose of getting revenge. And so, the tales of others who succeed in punishing the evil are, in a way, a different kind of pleasure and even a consolation of its own sort.
Today, Maimovie ranked the top 10 not just the best, but the best bloodthirsty revenge movies where the protagonist is determined to do whatever it takes, even if it means spilling blood (both others and their own) to achieve their goal—punishing their enemies.
The following list was based on Maimovie on April 05, 2022, under the “blood thirsty” and “revenge” Keytalks. Check out the Maimovie app or website to discover more movies and shows.
